Technician C

Location: San Jose, CA

Pay: $17-$19/ hour

Shift: Day 6am-3pm

Reporting to the Production Manager and with limited supervision, this position is required to work from drawings, procedures, work instructions, diagrams, parts lists, and verbal instructions to perform a wide variety of electro-mechanical assembly operations. Uses a variety of hand and power tools such as drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers and crimpers on a daily basis.

  • Follow work instructions.
  • Assemble and test a variety of electro-mechanical components, assemblies or instruments.
  • Perform complex documented tests.
  • Align parts and sub-assemblies and perform a variety of documented checks.
  • Make visual inspections and follow checklists.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair problems. If unable to resolve, bring them to the attention of the Manufacturing Engineers and/or Supervisors.
  • Document problems and solutions related to assembly directly into the ERP System.
  • Check equipment for calibration, expired materials, follows all ESD and other general housekeeping procedures.
  • Follow material handling guidelines and inventory procedures, including labeling and inventory controls
  • Able to communicate clearly with Manufacturing and R&D engineers regarding complex technical issues
  • Able to read and interpret complex drawing and assembly instructions for multiple production lines.
  • May verify final system completeness and operation to release for final inspection and shipping.
  • Provide technical leadership to others through assignment of work, review of progress and monitoring of results and instruction.
  • Support NPI Engineer and R&D with developing work instructions for assembly and final test for prototype builds.
  • Research, investigate and provide solutions for problems that are hindering the production line.

Technician C* Training, Experience and other requirements*
  • Five + years of experience in a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment required.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English - reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to perform shop arithmetic and measurements.
  • Proficient in the use of small manual and power tools.
  • Must possess intermediate computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Certification in basic soldering.
  • Combination of standing and walking for a minimum of 2.5 hours at a time.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
