Senior Cost Estimator – Steel Fabrication
Location: Oakdale, CA | Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to support pricing and estimating efforts for steel fabrication and industrial manufacturing projects. This role is responsible for developing accurate, competitive cost estimates while working closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to support profitable project execution.

Salary: $110,000 – $120,000
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:45 PM (45-minute lunch)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication and industrial projects

  • Review drawings, specifications, and scopes to determine labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs

  • Develop pricing summaries, bid packages, and supporting documentation

  • Collaborate with project management, purchasing, engineering, and production teams to validate scope and pricing

  • Review vendor and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and competitiveness

  • Identify cost risks, value-engineering opportunities, and margin impacts

  • Maintain historical cost data and labor productivity metrics

  • Support change orders, re-estimates, and cost reviews

  • Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic pricing

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of cost estimating experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial construction

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, welding, pipe, and structural steel

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, and technical drawings

  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with estimating/takeoff software preferred

  • Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

Preferred Experience

  • Industrial, manufacturing, or energy-related project experience

  • Knowledge of job costing, margin analysis, and production planning

  • Experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing shop environment
