Job Title: Safety Specialist
Type of Role: Direct Hire
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Pay Rate: $ 24.00
Under general supervision, develops and implements programs, practices and procedures to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents and injuries; ensures compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations ensures compliance with partner company safety suggestions, promotes safety culture through safety training, risk assessments and audit programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with management, partner company resources to determine applicable health & safety programs for implementation.
- Prepares proposal for annual safety improvement goal setting.
- Coordinates development and implementing company safety initiatives.
- Coordinate establishment and leads safety committees to assess, guide and implement a variety of safety programs.
- Implements instructional programs and materials to train employees in safe work practices and incident prevention; oversees all safety training records.
- Implements programs to identify significant hazards and developing corrective action.
- Performs regular physical inspections of facilities & grounds, equipment, vehicles and operations; identifies hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance and recommends corrective measures.
- Personally, responds to serious accidents or emergencies to ensure proper responses and investigation.
- Keeps informed on all existing and proposed changes in health & safety regulations and provides consultation to management, supervisors and employees in regard to workplace health & safety issues.
- Monitors compliance with all applicable federal, state and local safety laws & regulations, as well as compliance with mandated company policies and procedures; prepare safety & health related regulatory reports.
- Administers, organizes, and maintains safety records and documents, and reviews and verifies accuracy of safety data or reports pertaining to safety. • Provides management with safety loss trend data and analyses
- Coordinate the establishment of local safety committees and ensure their continuation.
- Seek technical consultants when needed for matters related to health & safety.
- Monitors environmental management system pursuant to ISO 14001; provides internal consultation to management and training when necessary.

Skills and Experience:
- 2 + Years of Experience in similar role
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Verbal & written communication skills
- Planning/organizational skills.
- Ability to implement and control a safety program.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections of equipment, operations, vehicles, building & grounds.
- Personal computer literacy.
- Knowledge of Global Harmonization Standard and SDS chemical safety requirements.

Monday – Friday
8:00 Am -5:00 Pm
