Job Title: Certification Compliance Coordinator
Type of Role: Contract to Hire
Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
Location: Greenfield, CA
Hourly Range: $22-$25/Hour
Role and Responsibilities:
SUMMARY: This role will monitor compliance across various programs, including sustainability, organic farming, and state and county regulatory requirements. The responsibilities will include driving to vineyards, conducting inspections to ensure compliance, collaborating with vineyard staff to initiate corrective actions where deficiencies are identified, and monitoring vineyard activities year-round. Additionally, this position will play a significant role in monitoring sustainable and organic practices in the winery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain documentation, reviewing corrective actions, and addressing gaps to comply with various certification/compliance requirements set forth by the following agencies:
o Global G.A.P
o CCOF
o CSWA
o CDFA
o EPA
o Bee Friendly
o Other State/County regulated programs
· Perform pre-inspections and internal audits to be audit-ready at all times.
· Inspect and ensure compliance in chemical, pesticide, fuel, waste, and fertilizer management areas.
· Inspect and ensure compliance with hygiene requirements of employees and employee facilities such as portable restrooms, break areas, etc.
· Monitor documentation, such as spray, field, and calibration sheets, and ensure accurate reporting.
· Provide supervisors with training as necessary to maintain County, State, and Certification compliance and educate them about new requirements.
· Continuously monitor compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, report gaps to vineyard staff to initiate corrective actions, and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
· Develop and implement strategies to engage and promote sustainability awareness and education.
· Facilitate cross-functional teams to identify sustainability-related issues and gather data and information needed to enhance the sustainability programs.
· Maintain a calendar of critical dates for audit and regulatory deadlines to ensure on-time certification/permit renewals.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to sustainability / organic farming / good agricultural practices.
· Collaborate with internal teams to integrate sustainable principles into business operations where practical.
· Provide education and training on sustainable/organic practices to employees.
· Coordinate 3rd party audits and regulatory inspections.
· Adhere to all regulatory, BRCGS, and GMP standards as required by the company’s food safety policy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· A strong background in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field is required. An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Sustainability, or a related field is preferred.
· 1-2 years of experience in ag-based compliance preferred.
· Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the grape growing and harvesting process and understanding vineyard regulatory requirements is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Communication: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form across all levels of the organization.
· Language: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, as well as the ability to learn other related computer programs and databases such as Vitwatch, Agcode, HeavyConnect, and smartphone apps related to viticulture responsibilities.
· Aptitude: Strong recordkeeping, data collection, and written and verbal communication skills are essential.
· A valid driver's license is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· You will be standing, sitting, and walking in vineyards, offices, maintenance shops, and warehouse facilities.
· You must be able to use your arms and hands to operate telephones, computers, and vineyard equipment.
· You may occasionally need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
· You should be able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
· Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
