Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Type of Role: Contract to Hire
Schedule: Dependent on shop/workload- Some shops do 8’s or 10’s start time is 5:30a-6:00am and end time again dependent on workload 2:30pm-4:30pm. There is OT and occasional OT on Saturday’s not always but if workload requires some occasional Saturdays may be required.
Location: Ottawa, KS
Hourly Range: $25.00

Join our team as a QC Inspector and play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring the highest quality of welds and dimensional accuracy of work performed by our talented production staff. Core Responsibilities:
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication, including final paint inspections, weld preparations, and final welds.
- Ensure fabricated materials conform to drawings, shop standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
- Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies with detailers.
- Coordinate with customers’ inspectors during inspection phases.
- Inform foremen of defects on fabrication.
- Assist shop personnel with interpretation of codes, drawings, and specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of related experience. Completion of a verifiable vocational or training program may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Certifications: Current or prior CAWI, AWS-CWI, SCWI, or CWB in accordance with CSA W178.2 preferred. Knowledge of dimensional tolerances in accordance with the AISC Code of Standard Practice and AWS Structural Welding Codes is essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of inspection tools and equipment such as tape measures, weld gauges, levels, squares, and flashlights. Knowledge of inspection requirements for high-strength bolted connections.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as Structural Steel Blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Software & Technology: Frequent use and knowledge of MS Windows 7 and/or MS Windows 10, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Blue Beam PDF Software, Kronos, two-way radio, and barcode scanner.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Environment: Work in both inside and outside environments, often dusty, cold, hot, dirty, and noisy. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme heat.
Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Frequent walking and stooping. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Must occasionally lift and move up to 75 lbs. Requires good judgment and the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
