Job Title: Microbiology Lab Supervisor
Type of Role: Direct Hire
Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday, schedule can vary depending on the season of business
Location: Lakeland, Florida
Salary Range: $65,000 – $72,000/Year
About the Role: We are looking for a Microbiology Lab Supervisor to bring strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for growing our business. In this dynamic role, you will lead a talented team, ensure top-quality testing, and work directly with clients to help shape the future of our laboratory in Lakeland, FL.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of lab personnel, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment
- Manage all aspects of lab operations, including scheduling, inventory, and quality control
- Utilize both traditional and advanced testing methodologies (real-time PCR, etc.) to analyze food, water, and environmental samples for pathogens and indicators
- Work closely with clients, providing them with results, answering technical questions, and ensuring they have the necessary testing supplies
- Implement and improve processes to maximize efficiency and accuracy in test result turnaround times
- Ensure full compliance with QA/QC standards and maintain high-quality documentation
- Provide regular reports on lab performance, trends, and growth opportunities to the Director of Microbiology and VP of Operations
- Manage budgeting and forecasting for the lab’s operations
- Support technical staff at lab locations across the U.S. and Mexico to ensure consistent quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with other departments to support cross-promotional opportunities and business development
- Collaborate with other departments, offering input to support cross-promotional opportunities and drive business growth
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes and procedures, improving quality efforts and increasing customer satisfaction
- Partner with our sales and marketing teams to identify opportunities for business growth and client development
- Provide training and mentorship to foster the professional growth of your team
- Occasionally travel to satellite labs to assist with coverage and provide supplemental training
Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related field with hands-on laboratory experience
- At least 2 years of experience managing a team of 5 or more in a laboratory setting
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to inspire and develop your team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical clients (Spanish skills a plus)
- A business-minded approach, eager to collaborate with sales and marketing teams to grow our lab services
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting in a lab or operational environment
- Coursework in Project Management is a plus
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Flexibility to travel occasionally and adapt to a changing work schedule
