Job Title: QC Inspector
Type of Role: Contract to Hire
Shift / Hours: 5:30-4:30 M-F, OT on Saturdays
Location: Eloy, AZ
Hourly Range: $28-30
About the Job:
Working for a world-class leader in building structures and bridges, the QC Inspector brings expertise in fabrication to contribute to high-profile projects in the commercial building, bridge, and industrial sectors. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of welds and dimensional accuracy, using in-depth knowledge of codes and standards to verify that the final product meets contract requirements.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication, including final paint inspections, weld preparations, and final welds.
- Ensure fabricated materials conform to drawings, shop standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Record and maintain inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
- Identify and address discrepancies in drawings with detailers.
- Coordinate with customer inspectors during inspection phases.
- Notify foremen of defects found in fabrication.
- Assist shop personnel in interpreting codes, drawings, and specifications.
Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 3 years of related experience.
- Completion of a verifiable vocational or training program may substitute for one year of experience.
- Current or prior certifications such as CAWI, AWS-CWI, SCWI, or CWB in accordance with CSA W178.2 preferred, or training/experience in metals fabrication, inspection, and testing.
- Strong understanding of dimensional tolerances and AWS and AISC codes for steel fabrication and erection.
- Ability to read and interpret Structural Steel Blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Competent in using tools such as tape measures, weld gauges, levels, squares, and flashlights.
