Job Title: Quality Manager 

Type of Role: Direct Hire

Shift / Hours: Flexible schedule, 6a-330pm M-F Travel is required 

Location: White Hall, AR

Salary Range: $90-$110K

The Quality Manager works under the direction of the Mill Manager to accomplish the Quality goals.    The Quality Manager will plan, implement and supervise quality initiative and act as an important member of the organization’s QA team as well as the paper mill management team.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mill quality program; maintain and improve compliance with ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management Systems. 
  • Work with Sales and Customer Service to establish quality requirements for new customers, determine customer needs and methods to meet those needs.
  • Lead internal audit program for the mill.   Contribute to internal audits throughout the organization.
  • Investigate customer complaints, perform root cause analysis and work with the mill management team to identify and perform corrective actions.
  • Process all quality claims and work directly with accounts payable to issue and distribute credit memos. 
  • Perform supplier audits as required.   Review and analyze certificates of conformance for raw materials.   Conduct testing and report on raw material quality.
  • Establish or maintain the GMP policy for the mill location.   Perform audits as needed.      
  • As part of the management team, establish mill quality objectives and priorities.
  • As part of a team, lead efforts to accomplish tasks associated with quality programs.
  • Develop training programs as needed to support the quality key competencies (e.g. procedures, control plans, SPC, quality alerts, food safety programs).
  • Perform training, communication and interact with employees on all shifts to ensure quality requirements are understood.
  • Participate in developing new quality initiatives that contribute to improving plant efficiency product quality.    Be an active contributor on the plant floor.
  • Contribute to additional responsibilities as defined by the Mill Manager.
  • Observe and follow plant rules for safety and Food Safety.
  • Inspect questionable inbound trailers/loads.
  • Onsite customer troubleshooting.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Paper Science, Business Administration or Quality Management is preferred OR equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in a paper mill or quality assurance role with emphasis on multiwall bag production.
  • Sales experience is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with quality systems such as ISO, TQM, or Six Sigma.
  • Experience using Continuous Improvement concepts.
  • Experience with regulatory systems, GMP and FSSC2200 is a plus.
  • Knowledge and ability to establish internal audit systems and ensure external audit compliance.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective action skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading cross functional project teams.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively throughout the company and with customers and suppliers.
  • A high level of common sense and logical thought processes are required.
  • Must be a self-starter and require minimum management to complete job tasks.
