Job Title: Packaging Machine Operator (PMO)

Type of Role: Contract To Hire

Expected Length of Contract: Long Term

Shift / Hours: Monday – Saturday, Variable Day Shift

Location: Hollister, CA/Yuma, AZ

Hourly Range: $19.00

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Packaging Machine Operator to support our production operations. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining packaging machinery to ensure products are packed efficiently, safely, and to quality standards. Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, team-oriented, and committed to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Operate packaging and scale equipment Perform set-ups, shut downs, and adjust control settings and logics
• Solve problems relating to specifications for packaging quality, weights, fills, seals, tray, and film runs
• Perform quality checks, product and film changeovers, mechanical adjustments, and required paperwork
• Assist dryer, packaging and stacking teams to ensure productivity accuracy and efficiency
• Ensure quality and safety of raw and finished product
• Ensure safe operating process for all equipment Perform other duties as assigned.
• Set up and operate packaging machines in accordance with company procedures and product specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain efficiency and product quality.
• Inspect finished packages for accuracy, integrity, and compliance with labeling requirements.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to prevent downtime.
• Accurately document production data, including counts, downtime, and any issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and escalate complex issues to maintenance or supervisors.
• Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets and ensure smooth shift transitions.

Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience operating packaging or production equipment in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with tools.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, labels, and safety instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Forklift certification (if applicable).
• Experience in food or pharmaceutical packaging (if relevant to Spinach’s products).
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, and/or move about the production area for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift).
• Ability to lift, push, and pull materials and products up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and repetitive hand movements.
• Must be able to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment and tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle small components.
• May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and hairnets.
