Job Title: SMT Set Up Technician
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Shift / Hours: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Type of Role: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Range: Starting at $18 per hour and up, depending on experience
About the Role:
As an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Set Up Technician, you will play a critical role in the production of high-quality printed circuit board assemblies. This position involves setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT equipment to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate SMT equipment including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems

Load components into feeders and prepare feeders for SMT machines

Program machines with parameters based on specific PCB designs

Adjust machine settings such as conveyor width and nozzle configuration

Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and quality defects

Perform routine maintenance and calibrations

Work with engineering and technical teams to resolve production issues
Qualifications:
-
Experience operating and maintaining SMT equipment (printers, pick-and-place, reflow ovens, AOI)

Knowledge of PCB assembly processes (surface mount and through-hole)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions

Familiarity with electronic components, their functions, and polarity

Basic computer skills

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Excellent attention to detail

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team

Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination

May require use of microscopes
Education and Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Associate degree or technical certification in electronics or related field preferred

1 to 5 years of experience in SMT manufacturing or electronics assembly
- IPC certification (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) is a plus
