Job Title: SMT Set Up Technician
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Shift / Hours: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Type of Role: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Range: Starting at $18 per hour and up, depending on experience

About the Role:
As an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Set Up Technician, you will play a critical role in the production of high-quality printed circuit board assemblies. This position involves setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT equipment to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate SMT equipment including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems

• Load components into feeders and prepare feeders for SMT machines

• Program machines with parameters based on specific PCB designs

• Adjust machine settings such as conveyor width and nozzle configuration

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and quality defects

• Perform routine maintenance and calibrations

• Work with engineering and technical teams to resolve production issues

Qualifications:

• Experience operating and maintaining SMT equipment (printers, pick-and-place, reflow ovens, AOI)

• Knowledge of PCB assembly processes (surface mount and through-hole)

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions

• Familiarity with electronic components, their functions, and polarity

• Basic computer skills

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team

• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination

• May require use of microscopes

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Associate degree or technical certification in electronics or related field preferred

• 1 to 5 years of experience in SMT manufacturing or electronics assembly

• IPC certification (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) is a plus
