Job Title:

2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)

Location:
Round Rock, Texas

Hourly Range:
$25 – $32 per hour, based on experience


About the Job:
As a Shift Supervisor, you will lead your production cell and be responsible for the operation of injection molding machines, equipment setup, material loading, and overall operator performance. You will ensure team members are trained, safe, and meeting quality and productivity standards.


Role and Responsibilities:

Job Summary

  • Supervise all aspects of production within your cell including equipment, materials, and personnel.

  • Train and manage operators while ensuring safe and efficient practices are followed.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving across the production floor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all shift resources: materials, quality, production, and staff.

  • Communicate regularly with HR and management to address gaps in skills or training needs.

  • Monitor and report employee attendance and performance.

  • Assign resources strategically to meet production goals and optimize yields.

  • Follow and enforce all process documents, work instructions, SOPs, and escalation procedures.

  • Perform job startups according to SOPs, considering materials, molds, equipment, and secondary operations.

  • Ensure machines are running to specification and troubleshoot issues as needed.

  • Start/shut down machines and auxiliary equipment.

  • Sign off on Production First Article (PFA) processes.

  • Enforce quality control and ensure operators understand product standards.

  • Maintain equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot issues (electrical, hydraulic, PLC).

  • Maintain accurate production documentation, scrap records, and quality logs.

  • Supervise operator compliance with PPE and safety procedures.

  • Ensure proper tools, materials, and documentation are present at all stations.

  • Monitor and manage scrap rates and perform frequent quality checks.

  • Blend and load raw materials as needed to support ongoing production.

  • Support production tasks (trimming, wrapping, packing, stacking, palletizing, etc.) as needed.

  • Train, develop, and cross-train team members.

  • Report shift productivity and issues to the incoming supervisor via reports and email.

  • Additional tasks as assigned by leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise 3–5 production employees.

  • Train, assign, and direct work.

  • Handle incident reporting, timecard review/approval, and safety compliance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of technical experience in injection molding and prior supervisory or lead role experience in manufacturing.

  • Strong verbal/written communication and Microsoft Office proficiency required.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and high heat.

  • Must be able to move in narrow spaces and behind machines.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate machinery and perform quality checks using hands and manual dexterity.

  • Visual and auditory abilities to detect part and machine conditions.

  • Lift, move, and manipulate materials and parts regularly.

  • Bend, kneel, stretch, and climb as required in a manufacturing environment.

  • Lift more than 50 lbs. and ascend ladders or elevated platforms safely.
