Job Title: Conservation Grazing Program Associate- Cattle Management
Type of Role: Contract
Expected Length of Contract: One month
Shift / Hours: Full-Time, Day Shift
Location: Carmel, CA
Hourly Range: $25/ Hour
Join a dedicated team supporting conservation and land stewardship in one of California’s most unique landscapes. In this hands-on field role, you’ll support the grazing program by managing livestock and maintaining temporary infrastructure across diverse grassland ecosystems.
Role and Responsibilities:

Build and remove portable electric fencing and water infrastructure

Monitor, repair, and maintain fencing and water tanks while livestock are present

Assist with herd health: vaccinations, routine care, and veterinary emergencies

Track livestock body condition and support overall herd wellbeing

Monitor and manage grassland conditions to support conservation goals

Collect vegetation and soil data to assess grazing

Hike and work outdoors for extended periods across varied terrain

Collaborate closely with the Conservation Grazing Program Manager and team
Skills and Experience:
-
Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work, including hiking and manual labor

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality

High school diploma or equivalent required

Valid driver’s license
-
Experience with livestock, electric fencing, or conservation work is a plus

Team player with a strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions
