Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Type of Role: Direct Hire
Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm) with 12 hr shifts 3 business days of each month
Location: San Antonio, TX
Salary Range: $65K – $75K (Based on experience)
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks to support the finance department, including processing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with month-end close, and supporting audits while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Process employee expense reports, weekly check runs and corporate credit card reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Provide support during audits by preparing schedules and gathering required documentation.
- Process and reconcile intercompany payments and accounts.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable laws/regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and provide financial insight.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP standards.
- Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Experience in steel processing or an automotive environment is a plus
