Balance Staffing is Now Hiring: Structural Steel Fitters for a well-known company in Stockton, CA.

Job Title: Structural Steel Fitters
Type of Role: Contract to Hire
Shift / Hours: Day Shift
Location: Stockton, CA
Hourly Range: $25.00 – $30.00/hr or more (depending on experience)

Role Overview:
Work for a world-class leader in building structures and bridges, contributing your expertise in steel and/or bridge fabrication on some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the commercial building, bridge, and industrial sectors. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and precision in assembly and fitting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble and fit structural, plate, and mechanical materials according to drawings and specifications.

• Utilize full trade skills, including blueprint reading and understanding heat reactions of structural metals.

• Receive and interpret instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders.

• Direct and assist in handling, spreading, and assembling materials; place bolts, drift pins, and other fastening devices accurately.

• Lay out work lines or fit jigs for positioning material; check, square, and scribe all detail connections.

• Ensure work conforms to drawings and specifications.

• Clean materials by grinding or chipping.

• Burn and tack weld materials for assembly purposes; cope, bevel, and straighten materials.

• Perform minor layout tasks and spot paint identification marks.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Write routine reports and correspondence as required.

• Perform other routine duties as directed by management.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or GED; 12 months of relevant experience preferred.

• Must pass fitter test.

• Proficiency with a variety of hand tools and equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Effectively communicate with supervisors and other employees.

• Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and apply basic algebra and geometry.

• Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; solve problems involving multiple variables.

• Ability to read tape measurements and blueprints accurately.
