Job Title: CNC Programmer
Type of Role: Direct Hire
Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:30am-4:00pm or 5:30am – 4:00pm
Location: Portland, Oregon
Salary Range: $64,480 – $85,280/Year
SUMMARY
Responsible for developing CNC machine programs, fixtures, and tooling solutions for the plant floor. Work closely with Production Management personnel, and the other CNC Programmers to discuss production needs and projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
o Program multiple CNC machines to produce parts to specifications.
o Read and interpret blueprints and design models.
o Specify the machining process and choose cutting tools for the job.
o Specify, design, and/or build setups and fixturing for parts.
o Create documentation for the machine operators to use for the program.
o Prove out current and/or new programs at the machine.
o Inspect parts visually and mechanically for conformance to the print and process dimensions.
o Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process.
o Complete quality control tests on parts.
o Help train staff on machine operation procedures.
o Maintain documentation, and programming file revision levels, as well as back up files.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS
The position interacts daily with production and engineering employees to discuss manufacturing operations and to solve issues.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required
Two-year Machining Technology degree preferred
Horizontal mill setup experience -Preferably FANUC Controls
Horizontal Lathe with live tooling experience
Read and understand blueprints / Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Understand G & M code, as well as proficiency with Macro-B Operations
Experience with CAD/CAM and Simulation software – Solid Edge, MasterCAM, NCSimul preferred
Working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling
Able to operate forklift, overhead crane, and other lifting devices
Experience in Machine Shop Math
Good communication skills and attention to detail
Experience with MS Office programs
Strong skills working with PC file systems.

Work is performed in a shop environment that is not climate controlled. This is a full-time position. Shift hours are typically Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, or Monday-Thursday 5:30am-4:00PM. Overtime may be required depending on production demands. Programs are often proven out on Fridays when the machine is not manned for production.
The individual may encounter pressure in meeting customer needs, balancing competing deadlines and resource constraints, although guidance is available from leaders at the site. Situations must be handled in a manner that meets customer needs and does not negatively impact customer satisfaction. Customers are both internal and external.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for the duration of the shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employees are required to use dual lift or lift devices for heavier loads.
