Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Type of Role: (Contract)

Expected Length of Contract: (No End Date)

Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday (30 Hours/Week – Flexibility Available)

Location: Castroville, CA 

Hourly Range: $35-$40/Hour 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities

  • Employee Relations:
    Serve as a liaison between employees and management, mediate conflicts, and handle disciplinary actions. 
  • Compensation and Benefits:
    Administer pay, benefits, and leave programs, and help manage the HR budget. 
  • Training and Development:
    Plan and implement training programs for staff and support employee development. 
  • Policy and Compliance: 
    Develop, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. 
  • Performance Management:
    Oversee employee performance management processes and provide guidance to managers on giving feedback. 
  • Organizational Development:
    Work with senior management to align HR strategies with business goals, improve employee engagement, and maintain a positive company culture. 
  • Recruitment and Hiring
    Manage the full hiring process, including writing job descriptions, interviewing candidates, and onboarding new employees. 

Skills and Experience:

Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Communication: Ability to speak, write, and present information clearly to various stakeholders, from employees to senior leadership.
  • Active Listening: Understanding and responding to employee needs and concerns effectively.
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence: The capacity to understand and manage emotions in oneself and others.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediating disputes and addressing workplace conflicts fairly. 

Strategic and business skills

  • Strategic Thinking: Aligning HR strategies with overall business goals and identifying future challenges.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding the company's operations, financial implications, and market challenges.
  • Data Analysis: Using data to inform decisions, report on HR metrics, and demonstrate HR's value.
  • Adaptability: Being able to adjust to changes in the business environment and HR best practices. 

HR-specific skills and knowledge

  • Recruitment and Selection: Developing and managing strategies for attracting and hiring talent.
  • Performance Management: Overseeing the process for setting goals, providing feedback, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Training and Development: Identifying training needs and creating programs to help employees grow.
  • Onboarding: Guiding new employees through the process of becoming productive members of the team.
  • Knowledge of Employment Law: Understanding and applying labor laws and regulations correctly.
  • HR Information Systems (HRIS): Proficiency in using the software that manages HR data and processes. 

Management and organizational skills

  • Leadership: Guiding and inspiring teams and employees to achieve goals.
  • Project Management: Managing multiple HR projects and initiatives effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Systematically managing numerous tasks, from payroll to record-keeping.
  • Decision-Making: Making sound and timely judgments in complex situations.
