Job Title: Payroll/HR Administrator
Type of Role: (Contract to Hire)
Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm
Location: Los Banos, CA
Hourly Range: $30-$35/Hour
The Human Resources / Payroll Administrator is responsible for supporting daily operations while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. This role serves as a key point of contact for employee records, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, safety, training and payroll-related inquiries, ensuring adherence to company policies and applicable labor laws. This position requires strong analytical skills and ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
• Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Prepare payroll reports and reconcile discrepancies
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve issues
• Familiar with AP processing
• Manually calculate temporary staffing timesheets on a weekly basis
Human Resources Administration
• Prepare and maintain all employee personnel files including employment, I-9 forms; current/term employees and unemployment claims
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes
• Assist with benefit administration including enrollment, changes, terminations, inquiries related to employee benefits
• Maintain monthly billing and reconcile all health benefits; medical, dental, vision, life for all employees including COBRA
• Process qualifying events for current employees and COBRA candidates via
Paycom
• Support performance review and employee relations processes
• Manage/coordinate Company safety and mandatory training
• Manage FMLA/CFRA and PDL for current employees on LOA
• Worker compensation administration and reporting with WC insurance and maintain OSHA log
up to date
• Maintain tracking transmittal report for 401k contributions for employees in a bi-weekly basis including for annual census reporting
Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies
• Assist/respond with audits, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims
• Prepare HR and payroll reports for management
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
General HR Support
• Respond to employee HR inquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Assist with policy updates and HR documentation
• Support recruiting and training initiatives as needed
Qualifications Required
• 2+ years of experience in HR and payroll administration
• Knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms, Paycom is a PLUS
• Familiarity with federal and state employment laws
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources, accounting, or related field
• Payroll experience with a minimum of 5 years
• Bilingual in Spanish is a PLUS
• Experience in construction/farming is a PLUS
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HR software

Working Conditions
• Full-time, Monday through Friday and must be able to work on-site only in Los Banos, CA
• Hourly position from $30.00 to $35.00 an hour
