Job Title: Die Maintenance Group Lead
Type of Role: Direct Hire
Shift: 2 week rotation
Location: San Antonio, Tx
Pay Range: $28.00/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Die Maintenance Group Lead to support operations within a steel manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians while ensuring all dies, tooling, and related equipment are properly maintained to support production efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, technical expertise in die maintenance, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and support a team of die maintenance technicians to ensure high performance and productivity
- Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance of dies, tooling, and related equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair dies to minimize downtime and support production goals
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to align with production needs and reduce interruptions
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and OSHA requirements
- Inspect dies and tooling for wear, damage, and proper functionality
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve processes and tooling performance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, scrap reduction, and uptime
- Ensure proper inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and materials
- Promote a safe work environment and lead by example in safety practices
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in die maintenance within a manufacturing or steel environment
- 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of die repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Experience with welding, machining, and fabrication is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in steel or heavy manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of stamping, forming, or die tooling processes
