Hourly Range:
$20 – $28 per hour

About the Job:
We’re seeking a skilled Tooling Technician to perform mold preventive maintenance and repairs, support root cause analysis, and coordinate tooling needs to ensure efficient injection molding operations within safety, budget, and quality standards.

Role and Responsibilities:

Job Summary

• Ensure internal and external mold preventive maintenance and repairs are performed within standards, safety, and budget.

• Measure and document efficiencies and effectiveness of injection molding tool maintenance, repair, and retrofits.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform mold preventive maintenance on injection molds.

• Perform basic mold repairs as directed by supervisor, including ejector pins and cores.

• Coordinate external repairs and preventive maintenance.

• Participate in tool design reviews; work with Design, Engineering, and Production groups to ensure manufacturability of injection molds.

• Conduct root cause analysis for mold repairs.

• Promote a safe and 5S working environment.

• Promote continuous improvements.

Skills and Experience:

• Education: High School diploma/GED required.

• 2-3 years of experience with plastic injection molds.

• Understand and possess the skills to machine, bench, fit, and spot.

• Experience with mills, Bridgeports, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and saws.

• Proficient in bench repair, assembly, machinery, drawings, design, welding, and heat treating.

• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

• Self-starter and self-motivated.

• Must be able to perform tool evaluations.

• Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Working Conditions:

• Regular exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and warm working temperatures.

• Must be able to walk behind machines in narrow places.

Essential Functions:

• Manual dexterity.

• Ability to read written English.

• Ability to express oneself verbally in English with clarity face-to-face.

• Ability to hear in one or both ears so that verbal communication can be received, understood, and acted upon either face-to-face or over an overhead paging system.

• Ability of olfactory nerves to distinguish between odors and scents as to origin and level of intensity, and tolerate potentially obnoxious smells.

• Ability to control and utilize fingers in a dexterous and coordinated manner for writing, typing, keyboarding, etc.

• Ability to stretch body and extend arms to place or secure objects at various heights.

• Ability to move with reasonable-paced mobility from point to point within a generally accepted time frame, recognizing environmental conditions like narrowness, clutter, slickness, etc.

• Ability to move and control torso to pick up items from floor or lower surfaces.

• Ability to flex legs at the knees and move the upper body forward and down.

• Ability to flex legs at the knees to lower body position.

• Ability to flex legs at the knee so that individual can lower the body coming to rest on one or both knees.

• Ability to use body parts (usually arms and hands, occasionally shoulders and back) to elevate an object weighing more than 50 lbs. above its previous surface level.

• Ability to ascend steps, ladders, and other vertical or semi-vertical surfaces to reach higher levels.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
