Job Title: Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor

Type of Role: Direct Hire

Shift / Hours: 1st

Location: San Jose , CA

Salary Range: $70K-$90K

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor protects company assets including buildings, equipment, and grounds. He/she supervises facility maintenance, housekeeping operation, safety, and equipment system reliability. This position will supervise maintenance purchaser, material handlers and technicians as well as contractors of various trades.

A major focus of this position is supervising equipment maintenance to ensure that equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. The maintenance supervisor determines the proper corrective action for damaged or worn equipment, and uses a maintenance management program to supervise the scheduling of mechanics’ work on necessary repairs and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs). He/she audits PMI completion and physically inspects repairs each day, conducts facility inspections, identifies operational improvements, and coordinates equipment repairs to improve efficiency of equipment and safety. In carrying out facility maintenance and housekeeping duties, the maintenance supervisor schedules repairs and preventative maintenance to maintain the facility’s condition, orders needed equipment for operations to maintain the productivity of the facility, and ensures that facility appearance is maintained at an acceptable level for the most reasonable cost.

The maintenance supervisor may help oversee process projects and activities. Duties include estimating project costs, and assisting with or developing schedules, drawings, feasibility studies, and project funding requests. He/she assist and create and sends out bid documents and project manuals, evaluates incoming bids and project estimates, and recommends or awards contracts.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

  • May help oversee inspections of projects to ensure safety, environmental and contract compliance
  • May help manage project budgets
  • Oversee the work of outside housekeeping vendors and manage vendors, scheduling, and dispatching for routine facility maintenance and projects
  • Maintain spare parts database, order parts and equipment, and ensure spare parts levels 
  • Determine employee training needs to produce continuous development plans
  • Provide feedback and support
  • Conduct performance evaluations and resolve individual and group performance issues
  • Builds strong relations by interacting with staff, operations, hourly employees, union officials and vendors, and addressing and resolving requests and situations
  • Coaches and develops others using career development processes and tools
  • Develops project plans to accomplish objectives. Establishes goals, milestones and deadlines and identifies necessary project resources
  • Estimates, identifies and forecasts business indicators, such as feasibility, potential growth, costs, risks and benefits, by analyzing relevant data and statistics
  • Manages budgets and understands accounting processes, determines needed resources and allocates funds, monitors expenditures to budget targets and resolves discrepancies
  • Manages equipment repair and oversees the correction of problems with tools, machinery and other standard technical equipment
  • Manages and performs routine maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, prolonged service life, and appearance
  • Manages physical assets (e.g., machinery, vehicles, equipment, supplies). Evaluates, obtains and allocates physical asset resources, maximizes their use and projects future asset needs
  • May help manage projects and programs including allocating people and resources, organizing logistics and implementation, monitoring progress, adapting plans, and identifying and resolving rollout issues
  • Possesses strong analytical and computer skills
  • Electrical knowledge dealing with 480 volts with the ability to read electrical diagrams preferred 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical degree preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
  • Must be currently in the same geographic location as the job
  • Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and on the weekends.
  • Experience supervising employees is required.
